All of the below types of extension can be either single or double story or perhaps a garage conversion, this is all dependant on the layout you are looking for and the limitations of planning permission.
As the name suggests, this is a popular type of extension that is built on the rear of your property. Often used to create additional entertaining space in the kitchen or dining room, something that is often missing on some older properties.

However, the steps listed here are an outline of what our process looks like when taking your extension project from a set of drawings to a functional new part of your home. At Applefields, every project is assigned to our project managers, to ensure that you are kept well informed of the process, and so you have the same point of contact that is always available to discuss the project once it is underway. Our project managers and team are well equipped to deal with changing requirements and unexpected circumstances. For example during the build, parts of your home may be exposed to the elements. This might mean that we will install mobile security solutions, additional temporary weatherproofing or another unique solution. Over the years, we have delivered various solutions to some rather interesting situations to keep our client's properties safe and projects on schedule. During your initial consultation, we will talk through your plans and discuss any architectural drawings you have. We also gather all the information our estimator will need to provide a thorough quotation as well as answer any questions you may have.

During planning, we will be looking at the project timeline, what and when materials will need to be delivered and plan effectively. This allows us to keep your project on schedule and you to plan and allow for any disruption.

Site preparation can vary wildly for each project. It may include demolition of existing buildings, resculpting land, constructing safe site access or planning welfare facilities for our on-site staff.

This is where your project really gets going. We carry out the groundworks, concrete and foundations are poured and the building begins to grow out from the ground. Eventually, the roof, windows, and doors are added and your extension is taking shape.

This is where plumbing and electrics are added, any non-structural walls are erected and your extension is finally becoming part of your home. Dependant on individual circumstances this might also be where existing walls are removed allowing interior access to the extended part of your property.

During this stage walls are being plastered, the second fix electrics and plumbing are installed, and any bathrooms, kitchens, or any other finishing details are added. Of course, all decorating and final touches are completed. You can now enjoy your new home.

Roofing is where many less skilled teams go wrong. Our roofing contractors are experts, and are capable to provide anything from a simple flat roof through to complex geometric layouts that require great skill and experience to successfully deliver.
Many modern builds utilise stud walls to optimise the project pricing, increase the speed of the build and oftentimes allow cables and pipework to be simpler to install and maintain in the future. Our skilled carpenters are able to provide anything from stud work to precision door installation.
We work with only the best window and door suppliers and installers. Windows and doors are often used as one of the key features of a project, from huge bi-folding doors that invite the garden in, to energy-efficient solutions to keep your home warm. A professional installation is an absolute must.
We have recognised over the years that skilled, reliable plumbers and electricians are few and far between. Having a trusted team available right when they are needed is key to keeping your project schedule on target and to a high standard.
All projects need to be finished to an exacting standard. This starts at the beginning of the project with groundwork, blockwork, carpentry and finally the plastering and decorating.
